November 9, 2008 – Announcements

THANK YOU
We thank everyone who participated in the 3rd Annual “Growing With God” Auction. We raised $14,380 for the Building Fund. A wide variety of items were sold including youth labor, meal tickets and homemade food goods. Only at Maple Grove could 2 quarts of chow-chow fetch so many laughs and $840.

EDUCATION AND INSPIRATION OPPORTUNITIES

LADIES IN FELLOWSHIP TOGETHER - LIFT meets on Tuesdays at 9:15 am. All the information can be found at http://ladiesinfellowshiptogether.blogspot.com/. Check it out. This week the program will be “Holiday Centerpiece” taught by Joan Leahy (bring a grocery bag of fresh cut greens)

LADIES PRECEPT BIBLE STUDY led by Darlene Groff: We welcome you to study Genesis 3-11. Classes began on September 24 and are held every Wednesday (except 2nd Wednesday) from 9:15 to 11:30 am. Child care is provided. There is no class this week; women are encouraged to participate in the Sewing Circle.

MYF (Mennonite Youth Fellowship) meets on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm. This is a time of fun and spiritual growth for youth in grades 9 to 12. This week Brian Holmquist will speak. Brian is a missionary with New Tribes Mission to Papua New Guinea.

The MYF is selling Gene Wenger Ham Loaves as a fund raiser. Each loaf is 2.5 lbs., and costs $8.50. Place your orders soon; delivery date is Friday, December 19.

SUNDAY EVENING WORSHIP
On December 7, 6:30 pm Elvin Kennel will speak. Elvin is Principal of the West Fallowfield Christian School.

SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES

MAPLE GROVE SEWING CIRCLE meets on Wednesday, November 12 from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm. All willing hands are welcome!

Now is the time to start thinking about going on a MISSION TRIP to the ROSE OF SHARON ORPHANAGE in the DOMINICAN REPUBLIC.
Groups will depart and return on Saturdays:
January 17-24 (FULL)
January 24-31
January 31 to February 7 (With West Fallowfield Christian School)

The Evangelism & Service Commission has a FOOD DRIVE for the Thanksgiving season to benefit the families of BRIDGE OF HOPE. Bring canned and dry goods to the box in the lobby by Sunday, November 23.

SUNDAY SCHOOL SUBSTITUTE TEACHER is needed for the kindergarten class. Contact Denyce Copeland if you are interested.

PRESCHOOL NEEDS
The Maple Grove Preschool is a ministry of our church. There is a need for scholarships for a number of families. If you are able to contribute to this cause, please write your check to the church and indicate that it is for Preschool Scholarships.

PUMPKIN OLYMPICS
The Glen Run Valley Farm will host the 9th Annual Pumpkin Olympics on Sunday, November 9, 2:00 to 5:00 pm. Don’t miss pumpkin games, snacks, and the great pumpkin roll. The Glen Run Valley Farm is at 280 Lenover Road, Atglen.

WOMEN’S RETREAT
The Annual Ladies Retreat to be held at the Eden Resort Inn and Suites in Lancaster, PA on February 20-22, 2009. Mary Wilson, Care Coordinator at Living Truth Fellowship Church, will be our speaker. The cost is $110 per person. Contact Missy King with questions.

Wednesday, November 12 the Bernstain Bear and Peter Panda classes will have Parent Conferences. It is also delivery day for the “Clair’s” Products fundraiser.

Thursday, November 13 the Peter Panda class will have Parent Conferences.

POSTMODERNISM AND THE CHURCH
Tel Hai Retirement Community is sponsoring a series on Postmodernism. Dr. Kenneth Miller, professor at Evangelical Theological Seminary is teacher.
